Yoga

Yoga sessions at MJCW are offered by Andrea Cunningham, MS, LPC-S, CYT

MJCW’s Gentle Yoga sessions focus on awareness, alignment and breath to help release tension and relax the nervous system.  Sessions are designed to stretch and strengthen your body while creating space for stillness. Each session can help build confidence, reduce anxiety and stress, and restore and renew the mind and body. Every session will commence with a guided meditation for a complete mind/body yoga experience. All sessions offered by MJCW are taught from a trauma-informed yoga therapy approach.

Why Yoga?

Research indicates that yoga can decrease stress, relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression, improve quality of life, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep quality, increase strength, improve flexibility and balance, and may reduce inflammation in the body.

Research also indicates that meditation can reduce stress and anxiety, decrease depression, enhance self-awareness, lengthen attention span, increase compassion toward self and others, improve sleep, and can help manage pain.
