Meghan Leonard, M.S.W., LCSW is dedicated to creating a space for her clients to feel safe, heard, and valued. She believes that each of the many reasons that someone walks into her office is valid and important. Whether a client is struggling to process a past or recent trauma, finding themselves in a battle with their internal critic, or struggling to be their most authentic self due to fear or shame, she is committed to partnering with them on their journey. Meghan knows it isn’t easy to open up about difficult experiences, those well-guarded thoughts or feelings, and will honor that.

While the therapy approaches Meghan uses are based in research, each person’s specific needs come first. Meghan is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), mindfulness-based exercises, and is knowledgeable about other various modalities. She will pull from these skills to create a treatment plan that takes in to account each individual’s needs, strengths, and resources.

Meghan believes that one of the most beautiful things about therapy is the partnership between the therapist and the client. Her commitment is to work together with the client to filter through what is on the surface and address the root of what is causing emotional pain, discomfort, or stress. She has a passion for working with individuals struggling with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Life Transitions (career or relationship changes, moves, spiritual or religious crises, etc), and the LGBTQI+ community. Meghan has the experience and understanding needed to facilitate healing and growth and finds joy in helping her clients reach their goals. Meghan is an ally for Racial Justice, Body Positivity, is HAES (Health at Every Size) informed. She strongly believes in honoring differences in size, age, race, ethnicity, gender, dis/ability, sexual orientation, religion, class, and other human attributes.

Meghan has extensive experience with adolescents and adults, having worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her most current role has been outpatient therapy at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
