Katherine Sawyer, MS, LPC, specializes in treating children, adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, anger management issues, communication issues, life transitions, academic stress/difficulty, grief, family conflict, relationship conflict, suicidal thoughts, self-harming behaviors, and trauma. Katherine’s approach to counseling is grounded in Person-Centered Therapy, and she integrates aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. Katherine honors and respects each client’s unique background, values, and beliefs, and is committed to serving the individual needs of each client. Collaboratively, Katherine and her clients develop individualized treatment plans to suit their unique needs and goals, and she strives to create a safe and supportive environment for her clients to experience healing, progress and personal growth.
Katherine is additionally certified in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy through the Eagala training program. Equine-assisted therapy incorporates horses into individual and group counseling, helping clients relieve psychological distress, build trust and confidence, change unhealthy patterns of behavior, and experience emotional growth and healing. Katherine is passionate about holistic wellness, and enjoys seeing her clients heal, grow, and thrive as a result of working on themselves. She deeply values her connections with clients and feels honored to work with them throughout the therapeutic process.
